THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH

The disciples of Jesus asked Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” (Luke 11:1). Jesus instructed them to pray, “Our Father which art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.” (Luke 11:2; Compare Matthew 6:9, 10). It is obvious that God’s will is not being done. In fact, some are burning the Bible, the word of God, in violent and destructive protests. However, whether honestly or willingly ignorant (2 Peter 3:5), some are hindering the only true source for good. They cannot destroy the word of God by burning it. Jesus said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” (Mark 13:31). Those who burn copies of the word of God will all die, unless the Lord returns first, but the word of God will live on! All past atheists, agnostics, infidels, and such like are dead, yet here the writer sits with his Bible.

Consider what this world could and would be like if all would follow God’s will as He has set it forth in His word. Read a few words of God that follow to see how His way would give all that for which man longs.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8, “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.”

Matthew 7:12, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”

Ephesians 4:28, “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.”

James 1;27, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

Galatians 5:22-26, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

Titus 2:11, 12, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.”

Colossians 3:5, “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”

Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Galatians 6:10, “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them which are of the household of faith.”

Matthew 5:3-12, “Blessed are the poor in Spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

QUESTIONS!!! (1) Are you faithfully doing these, and other things, God has ordained for all to do? (2) Are the things being done (burning, destroying, looting, etc.) around the world following God’s plan? (3) Are the things (disobedience, rejection of God’s will) beneficial to all? Anyone?

Some laughingly say, “Look at so-called Christians!” The answer to that is simple. No one who understands the word of God, loves it, and seeks to follow it, is excusing disobedience on the part of any so-called follower(s) of God. Any and all (every) Christian should do what the word of God says, and should all be one, speaking the same thing. (1 Corinthians 1:10; John 17:20-23).

Jesus calls, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30). Beloved, how is the world working as most continue to reject Jesus and His way? Honestly answer this question: How would things be if all did as the Lord teaches???? What would happen to many diseases, especially, STD’s, poverty, and many others??????

Jesus taught His disciples to pray that His will be done in earth, as in heaven. Are you willing to do so, and encourage others to do the same? Join our efforts to follow Jesus, saving souls, our own and others, while making for a better world.
